From: Camping “Montech” To: A ‘muni’ by a marina along the Canal de Garonne: 114 km (!)

Same drill as usual, up and off to find breakfast somewhere.  What do I lose today?  My ball cap!  Who needs a hat in 37 C temperatures?

Rise and Shiny!

Somewhere along the way to breakfast, my bungie cord slipped loose, spilling the guitalele behind me… The cap was bungied down too, but in my concern for the guitalele, the cap was forgotten…alas!

Scott, unaware that I am about to lose my hat…

Ah, well, bakery found, it is back to the canal and off to and through Toulouse.  I’m sure there are a ton of things to see there, but we were in pass-through mode, and only did a quick bike through the center with a stop or two for pics and beers.

Navigating Toulouse
(oddly enough, that’s the name of my next band)

Toulouse was mostly shut down, but hey, it was Monday…

Back on the canal, we had a ways to go to get to the municipal campground out near no sizeable town, but it was a pleasant ride with beverage stops not too far apart.

The camp itself was basic but tidy, and only a couple km away from a lake on the canal with a nice marina restaurant.  Like, really nice.

We crack 100km!

View from the restaurant deck…

We didn’t realize were were close to the town of Castelnaudary (the home of Cassoulet), and the restaurant made a superb version of that town’s famous bean casserole dish.  Scott went for that, I continued my duck-eating frenzy with a sizeable fatty breast.

Sorry, Daffy, I needed it more…

We rolled ourselves back to the bikes and rolled on them back to camp!  Tomorrow?  Carcassonne!
